Ovoid Open-Handled Stoneware Jar, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / NEW-YORK," Clarkson Crolius, Jr., Manhattan, NY, circa 1830, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and open loop handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt cloud-like design surrounding the maker's mark on the front, and a scalloped drape-like design surrounding dots on the reverse. In-the-firing separations to ends of one handle. 6" vertical crack on right side, extending 2 3/4" onto underside. 5/8" shallow rim chip. Other much smaller rim chips appear to be in-the-making. H 10 3/4".
