One-Gallon Ovoid Stoneware Jug with Impressed "Clam Shell" Decoration, Stamped "COMMERAWS / STONEWARE / N. YORK," Corlears Hook, Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1810, ovoid jug with tooled foot, reeded neck, and small ribbed handle, decorated with impressed and cobalt-highlighted "clam shell" designs accented with several impressed tassels. Front of jug bears the impressed and cobalt-highlighted words "COMMERAWS / STONEWARE / N. YORK." Base chips, including a glazed-over base chip on reverse. H 11 3/4".
