Large-Sized Stoneware Churn with Cobalt "Fishing Lure" Decoration, Midwestern origin, circa 1880, cylindrical churn with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt "fishing lure" design flanked by looping trails of cobalt. Script letter B underscored by lines at shoulder. 8 1/2" inverted Y-shaped line. 4 1/4" crack from rim on reverse. Lines on underside, not visible on interior, one of which continuing 4 1/2" up front of churn. Hairlines near base on front. Small chips on interior where a lid would rest. Glazed-over rim chip. H 19 1/4".
