Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Bird on Stump Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1870, straight-sided crock with applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a bird perched on a large tree stump surrounded by shrubs. Some bubbling to cobalt near base. Four rim chips on exterior of rim, the largest of which is on the reverse and measures 1 3/4". A few additional chips on interior of rim. H 10 1/2".
