Scarce Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Ellenville or Poughkeepsie, NY origin, circa 1875, approximately one-gallon stoneware pitcher with ovoid waist and tooled rim molding, decorated with a slip-trailed bird on branch design, accented with dotted berry-like trails. Spout decorated with three wavy trails of cobalt slip. 3 1/2" hairline, extending up from base on front and extending 2 1/4" onto underside. 3 1/2" line in shoulder, which does not go through to interior. Small spout chip. Minor 3/8" line in spout above handle, which does not go through to interior. Small base chips. H 10 7/8".
