Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J REILEY & CO. / LANSINGBURGH," New York State origin, circa 1855-1858, straight-sided crock with applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt bird with fan-shaped tail, perched on a curling vine. A flower is slip-trailed to the bird's right. Heavy fry to cobalt. Staining to surface. Light flaking above one handle. 6" line on front of crock, which does not go through to interior. Chip to interior of rim. H 10 1/4".
