Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Butter Crock, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, with heavily-tooled shoulder and ribbed handle, decorated front and back with a brushed cobalt leaf design and under each handle with a cobalt chainlink design. Essentially as-made condition. In-the-firing separation line on interior, a half-inch of which is visible on exterior. Small, faint in-the-firing lines on underside, not visible on interior. Small, shallow flake on top of rim. H 5" ; Diameter 8 1/2".
