Four-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cream Jar, PA origin, circa 1870, ovoid jar with flattened rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt leaf design. Jar is out of round. 7" crack from rim on reverse. Rim chips. 3 3/4" Y-shaped hairline under one handle. Crack on underside, extending 4" up front of jar and forming an x there, as well as 7" up reverse side of jar. Two more base cracks extending from underside, one measuring 2" at base, and a second T-shaped crack measuring 2 5/8" x 4 1/2". 1" hairline at base. H 12 1/2".
