Four-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.," circa 1870, baluster-form jar with flared base, tall collar, and ribbed lug handles, decorated front and back with a brushed cobalt leafy vine design. Impressed with Richard Clinton Remmey maker's mark at base. Rim chips. One small glazed-over chip and a small post-firing chip to one handle. Restoration to section of collar. Restoration to crack extending through decoration and onto underside. Additional restoration to cracks on opposite, which also includes some of decoration. H 14 1/2".
