Very Rare Miniature Stoneware Salesman's Sample Jug, New York State origin, circa 1835, early ovoid jug with tooled rounded rim and applied strap handle, decorated with a large cobalt flower extending from a wreath of leaves. Marked "1," denoting one gallon, in cobalt. Exceptional miniature size. Salesman's sample stoneware from this period is very difficult to find. Near mint condition with one shallow base chip on reverse. H 5 1/8".
