Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to David Parr, Sr., Baltimore, MD, circa 1830, thin-walled, highly ovoid pitcher with footed base, heavily tooled shoulder, and tooled rim, brush-decorated around the body with a horizontal design of crossing tulips emanating from groups of graduated swags. Spout decorated with joined graduated swags flanking a daub of cobalt. Collar decorated with horizontal tulips. Cobalt band to rim. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A strong example of Parr potting and brushwork. Excellent condition with a faint 1 1/2" hairline from rim, a minor rim chip, and some minor residue from use and in-the-firing discoloration to surface. H 10 3/4".
