Five Stoneware Bottles, Northeastern U.S. origin, 19th century, four bearing the impressed and cobalt-highlighted mark, "D W DE FREEST," two of which have a slip-trailed cobalt "R" on reverse, two of which have a slip-trailed cobalt "L" on reverse, NY State origin, third quarter 19th century; together with brown-dipped bottle, Northeastern U.S. origin, possibly Paul Cushman Pottery, Albany, NY, early 19th century. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. The two DeFreest "L" bottles are in very nice condition, one of which has fry to the cobalt, the other with some surface residue. The two DeFreest "R" bottles have spout chips, one of which has some additional spout wear and staining, the other with some green oversalting near base and some clay residue to underside. Brown slip bottle with a base chip and several minor base chips. H (of tallest) 10 5/8".
