Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Western PA origin, circa 1875, a canning jar with recessed "wax sealer" rim, stenciled "JOHN P. EBERHART & CO. / NEW GENEVA . PA," surrounding a stylized stenciled floral motif; paired with a semi-ovoid jar with freehand stripe decoration, stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON & CO. / MANUFACTURERS. / GREENSBORO. PA." Eberhart jar with sticky staining to surface, a short in-the-firing line at base, a minor base chip, a small chip and minuscule nick to interior of rim, and wear to inner wax sealer rim. Hamilton jar with a glazed-over ping to reverse, a small stone ping to front, fry to cobalt, and mottling to surface. H (of taller) 10".
