Extremely Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher with Incised Figural Decoration, Inscribed "WW," possibly William Weaver, Knoxville, TN, fourth quarter 19th century, ovoid pitcher with footed base and short, wide collar, decorated on one side with an abstract incised design of a woman in dress and on the opposing side with the inverted initials, "WW" or "MM." Additionally incised "WW" on underside. Tennessee pottery authority and collector, Carole Wahler, the owner of this pitcher, believed this pitcher to be a product of William Weaver of Knoxville, Tennessee. Provenance: Carole Wahler Collection. A 2" x 1/2" loss to rim. A 1 1/4" flake to interior of spout. Light wear to rim. Base chips. H 6 7/8".
