Rare Albany-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Canning Jar, Stamped "LEITZINGER / CLEARFIELD, PA," circa 1851-1879, ovoid jar with footed base, rounded shoulder and narrow, flared mouth, the surface covered in a brown Albany slip glaze. Impressed at the base with the rare maker's mark of Swiss immigrant potter, Frederick Leitzinger, active in the town of Clearfield in Clearfield County, PA, circa 1851-1879. Wear to slip on mouth. Otherwise excellent condition. H 10".
