Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, NJ origin, circa 1855, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, brush-decorated with a spray of floral and foliate motifs on one side and the inscription, "1/2 G," for half-gallon on reverse. A small post-firing chip and a small glazed-over chip to rim. Some light staining and minor wear to surface. Some matte in-the-firing contact marks at base. H 9".
