Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Watch Spring Decoration, probably Manhattan, NY origin, second half 18th century, highly ovoid jug with footed base, heavily-tooled spout, and semi-rounded mouth, decorated with two conjoined spiraling "watch spring" motifs at the shoulder. Cobalt accents to handle terminals. Spider lines to underside and base. Various mostly large in-the-firing contact marks to surface. Some fairly typical in-the-firing fissures to handle terminals. A short in-the-firing fissure to underside at edge. A small in-the-firing ping to spout. H 15".
