Manganese-Decorated Redware Dish, NC origin, circa 1820-1850, flaring dish with rounded rim, decorated with two bands of dark manganese slip and covered in a clear lead glaze. Two overlapping impressions of a dotted circle appear on the underside, formed prior to firing and carved at a later date. A 3" crack from rim. Chips and wear to rim. Some wear and knife marks to interior. Rim with a shallow, unglazed flattened area, possibly in-the-making. Diam. 10 1/8" ; H 1 7/8".
