Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG PA," circa 1865, each of ovoid form, a one-gallon example with brushed tulip bud motif and a three-gallon example with double-blossomed tulip plant motif. Smaller with significant rim chips, flakes to front, a thin 2" crack on underside, continuing 3" up side of jar, and heavy staining. Larger with significant surface flaking, rim wear, a minor chip to interior of rim, a small hole in front leading to a large flake on interior, and various thin cracks. H (of larger) 12".
