Rare Stoneware Chicken Waterer with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Ralph J. Grier, Chester County, PA, circa 1875, domed form with pointed finial and applied trough, brush-decorated with a large vertical tulip on the front and reverse as well as foliate devices, dashes, and highlights to the trough. Restoration to a long Y-shaped crack through decoration on reverse, the top of the restored crack extending onto shoulder on front. As a result, most of the decoration on the reverse is painted. A recessed area to reverse. H 12".
