Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "PENN YAN," NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a daisy plant. Slip-trailed "2" to shoulder. Excellent condition with a tiny nick to inner rim for lid, a small in-the-firing base chip, a few very minor in-the-firing contact marks to bottom edge, the reverse with a small area of wear and small drips of orange paint. Tacky residue to surface. H 10 3/4".
