Two Pieces of Glazed Stoneware, SC origin, 19th-20th century, a highly-ovoid, three-gallon jug with mottled olive-to-brown alkaline glaze, incised with three slash marks at shoulder, probably David Drake at Lewis Miles's Stony Bluff Manufactory, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1855; paired with a brown-glazed, semi-ovoid churn, incised "RB / 5," Robert Broyles, Cherokee County, SC, late 19th or early 20th century. Provenance: Richard and Cindy Pearce Collection. Jug with a large area of restoration to spout, in otherwise excellent condition. Churn with a 5 1/2" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim on front, significant restoration to collar, wear to inner rim for lid, restoration to edge of one handle, some small in-the-making surface flakes and minor surface residue, and several small base chips. H 15".
