Six-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Elaborate Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "C.S. KLINE / MANUFACTURER / HOWELLS.MILLS / GA," circa 1885, cylindrical churn with flaring collar and rounded lug handles, brush-decorated with three flower blossoms, scrolled and diagonal lines, and a freehand "6." Collar impressed with Charles S. Kline maker's mark and a six-gallon capacity mark. Provenance: Daniel Auction Company, Sylvester, GA, 2012; Frank W. White Collection. Surface flakes around base. Wear and small chips to rim. Heavy wear to interior of collar and inner rim for lid. Some wear to base of collar on exterior. Two chips and wear to proper left handle. Wear to proper right handle. A 2 1/2" crack on underside continuing 9" up reverse. H 19".
