Early-Period Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Bean Pot with Lid, Signed "Lm," Lanier Meaders, Cleveland, GA, circa 1960s, wide, low pot of ovoid form with applied lug handles and tapered rim, the surface covered in a dark-brown alkaline glaze over a reddish clay ground. Includes lid with large finial and olive-colored alkaline glaze over a whitish clay ground, likely original to the pot. Underside of pot incised "Lm" in script, a desirable early form of signature for this potter. Provenance: Frank W. White Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. Diam. 8" ; H (including lid) 5".
