Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "MOORE, NICHOLS & CO. / Williamsport, Pa," circa 1877-1879, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with a flowering stem bearing a pair of four-petaled blossoms. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Provenance: Herb and Carol Hausmann Collection. A thin horizontal crack through handle. Two small base chips. A few minor spout chips, one of which is glazed over. Some minor wear and minor residue to surface. A minor in-the-firing iron ping beside decoration. H 13 1/2".
