Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Leaf and Floral Motif, attributed to M. & T. Miller, Newport, PA or Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA, circa 1865-1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a dramatic design of a stem bearing a large, heavily-detailed leaf, a smaller leaf, and hanging tulip, accented with looping tendrils. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Jar measures approximately four gallons. Broken into sections and restored. H 13 1/4".
