Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Edgefield District, SC origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jug with small, tapered spout, the surface covered in an olive-brown alkaline glaze with darker runs descending from the shoulder. Provenance: Richard and Cindy Pearce Collection. In-the-firing surface fissures to underside and base. An in-the-firing ping at base on reverse. A shallow in-the-making dent to proper right side of jug. H 10".
