Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher with Rutile Treatment, attributed to Joe "Jug" Johnson, Laurens County, SC, late 19th or first quarter 20th century, ovoid pitcher with flared collar, rounded rim, and incised drape motif to upper body, the surface coated in a mottled reddish-brown to dark-brown alkaline glaze with heavy rutile. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 10 1/4".
