Three Redware Flowerpots, Strasburg, VA origin, fourth quarter 19th century, one with crimped rim and saucer, decorated with a manganese "seaweed" motif in the English mochaware style over buff, slip-coated clay, stamped "SOLOMON BELL / STRASBURG / Va;" a second with coggled rim and saucer, decorated with lead-and-manganese swag motifs over white slip, unmarked; and a third with coggled rim and saucer and cream-colored slip coating, unmarked. Marked Solomon Bell flowerpot with rim chips and large loss to saucer. Swag-decorated flowerpot with damage to rim of pot and saucer, some surface wear including flakes, and an in-the-firing bloated spot to side. Undecorated flowerpot is out-of-round, with two small chips and wear to rim, its saucer with a large loss and chip. H (of tallest) 8 1/4".
