Fine Small-Sized Alkaline-Glazed Pitcher with Elaborate Incised Decoration, Sand Mountain, AL origin, circa 1850-1880, ovoid pitcher with pronounced foot and slightly-flared rim, decorated with three rows of wavy combed incising separated by four incised lines. Surface covered in a mottled olive-brown alkaline glaze with darker coloration on interior. Excellent form, decoration, and size. Provenance: Acquired from Canterbury House Antiques & Auctions, Jacksonville, FL, on February 9, 2000. Very nice condition with a 3/4" chip to foot, a small rim chip, two minor nicks to spout, and a minor nick to interior of rim. H 6 1/4".
