Five-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Horseshoe Stamp, attributed to the Reverend John Landrum Pottery, Horse Creek Valley, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1810-1840, rotund jar with thin, semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, the surface coated in a mottled-brown alkaline glaze with heavier, gray-green runs. Base impressed with a large, incomplete horseshoe stamp, measuring 3/4" tall. Shoulder incised with five punctates. Base chips, some in-the-firing. Two in-the-firing glaze drips to surface, one with a small flake below. H 14 3/4".
