Fine Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, attributed to the Jesse P. Bodie Pottery, Kirksey's Crossroads, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1870, ovoid jar with flaring, semi-rounded rim and arched tab handles, the surface covered in a mottled olive alkaline glaze with rutile runs at the rim and the shoulder. Incised "3" on one side at shoulder and faintly with what appears to be a letter "M" at midsection. Provenance: Originally found in a house in Edgefield, SC. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. A 1 3/8" base chip and additional shallow chipping around base. H 13 3/4".
