Rare Blue-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug with Manufacturing Flaw, Signed and Dated "Edwin Meaders / 5 [or 3]-20-1993," Cleveland, GA origin, 1993, ovoid jug with hand-molded facial features included large, crescent-moon-shaped ears and pupilless eyes with incised brows and lashes. Interestingly, Edwin chose to glaze and fire this jug despite a large loss on the front of the face that happened during the bisque firing. Flawed Meaders family face jugs such as this example rarely come to market. Incised signature and date on underside. Large in-the-making loss to face. Otherwise excellent condition. H 11 1/2".
