Unusual Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug with Rock Teeth, Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA, circa 1975, ovoid jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face including crooked kaolin eyes with black-slip pupils, pierced ears, nose, dimpled cheek, and open mouth with quartz teeth. Unusual piece of alkaline-glazed kaolin applied at the inner corner of each eye, possibly representing a tear or added to hold each eye in place. Surface covered in a dark-olive alkaline glaze. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature. Excellent condition with a small spout chip. H 10".
