Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Canning Jar with Wheeling, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, wide, cylindrical jar with recessed "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "J. E. MORRIS. / DEALER IN / STAPLE / & FANCY / GROCERIES. / No. 119, SIXTEENTH ST. / WHEELING. W. VA." Interior of rim with two shallow 5/8" chips and a minor nick. Some minor traces of old gold paint to surface. H 6".
