Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Inscribed "J. NOX," NC origin, circa 1850-1880, ovoid jug with unusual wide spout and dramatic salt glaze runs to the spout, shoulder, and reverse, hand-incised with the name, "J. NOX," at the shoulder. Several spout chips. One handle chip. Numerous in-the-firing surface fissures. Traces of old decoupage to surface. H 10 3/8".
