One-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA", circa 1865, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, handle at base on reverse, and applied clay ears fitted with a wood-and-wire bail handle. Decorated on the front with two large brushed tulips and a wreath surrounding the base of the spout. Reverse with double-blossomed tulip motif. Cobalt highlights to ears and handle terminals. Restoration to spout. A chip and some wear to one ear. A small chip to opposite ear.
