Two Pieces of WV Advertising Stoneware, Western PA origin, circa 1880, a half-gallon ovoid jar with flattened rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "HANDLAN RATCLIFF / & CO. / 3547 / JACOB ST. / WHEELING / W. VA.," paired with a one-gallon ovoid jug featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "M. REILLY. / 1309 & 1311 / MAIN STREET. / WHEELING. W.VA." Provenance: From a fifty-year VA collection. Jar with old residue to rim and minor traces of residue to body, in otherwise excellent condition. Jug with significant restoration to spout and some restoration along edge of handle. H (of jar) 6 1/2".
