Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.," Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1880, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flaring collar, and ribbed lug handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with pairs of upswept floral motifs. Scalloped stripe of cobalt below each handle and cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed under one handle with "R.C.R. / PHILA." maker's mark. Two 2" vertical lines to base. Two small chips to interior of rim. Several short vertical lines to base. Staining to surface. Some light wear to cobalt. H 12 1/2".
