Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN, OTTMAN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N. Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized, spotted branch. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: From a fifty-year VA collection. A 1" spout chip. Crazing to underside, extending a short distance onto base. A glazed-over, in-the-firing dent to base. H 16".
