One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Floral Decoration, Stamped "MASON & RUSSEL / CORTLAND," New York State origin, circa 1835-1839, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, slightly-flared collar, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a tulip emanating from a curving stem. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A few minor base chips. A surface crack to reverse terminal of proper right handle, not visible on interior. A small rim chip. Minor surface wear. Minor staining. H 9 1/4".
