Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Birds and Banner Decoration, Inscribed "HARTFORD Conn," Stamped "SEYMOUR & BOSWORTH / HARTFORD CONN," circa 1871-1890, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a raised-wing bird atop a banner inscribed, "HARTFORD Conn," including various flourishes surrounding it and a flying bird above. Cobalt highlight to capacity mark. Two cracks from rim on reverse, measuring 8 1/2" and 4 3/4". Minor staining. A very thin piece of adhered clay at base. Two minor rim nicks. H 10 1/8".
