Rare Glazed Redware Jar with Elaborate Three-Color Slip Decoration, Southeastern PA origin, early 19th century, highly-ovoid jar with footed base and semi-rounded rim, decorated in slip-trailed yellow, copper, and manganese slip with a flowering plant on two sides separated by straight and wavy vertical trails of alternating colors. Significant losses to slip. Exfoliation around base. Two adjoining rim chips, including a 1 1/4" x 5/8" base chip. A tight spider crack extending from base to midsection. Varnish to surface. In-the-firing pings to underside. Significant flakes to interior. H 9 1/2".
