Exceptional Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Iron-Dipped Decoration, Stamped "BOSTON," attributed to Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, early 19th century, squat-shaped, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and semi-open loop handles, featuring a dipped iron decoration the upper and lower body. Among the finer Carpenter iron-dipped jars that we have offered, featuring desirable size and form along with strong iron application. A rim chip on reverse. A partially glazed-over in-the-firing iron ping to proper right handle. Tight surface lines to proper right side, not visible on interior. An approximately 4" Y-shaped surface line ascending base on front, not visible on interior. A 3 3/4" vertical surface line ascending base on reverse, not visible on interior. Minor chips to interior of rim. H 7 1/2".
