Stoneware Jug with Coggled Bird-and-Leaf Motif, Stamped "WINE," attributed to Branch Green, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1820, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, the shoulder decorated with a coggled design of a bird with leaf in its beak, brushed over in cobalt slip. Provenance: Crocker Farm, Inc., Fall 2023, lot 531. Significant professional restoration to spout. Base chips, one of which is glazed over. An in-the-firing piece of adhered clay to shoulder, an in-the-firing surface flake near midsection, and an in-the-firing iron ping below. H 14 3/4".
