Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Butter Crock, Stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.," Richard Clinton Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1880, wide, cylindrical form with tooled shoulder, brush-decorated with five groups of graduated swags. Impressed at shoulder with Richard Clinton Remmey maker's mark. A thin 3" crack from rim. Rim chips. A recent black pen inscription on underside, which reads, "1859-1900." Diam. 6 3/4" ; H 4 3/8".
