Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840, ovoid pitcher with heavily-tooled rim, brush-decorated with a swag and hanging flower motif around the body. Swag decoration flanking the spout. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Recently excavated at a North Carolina residence dating back to 1798. Shallow in-the-firing contact marks (flakes) to top of rim and spout. Wear to spout. Light surface wear. A small in-the-firing chip to bottom edge. A few in-the-firing contact marks to body of pitcher. H 11 3/4".
