Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "JAMES HAMILTON & CO. / MANUFACTURERS. / GREENSBORO,PA.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated at the midsection with James Hamilton maker's stenciling along with stenciled flourishes, freehand stripe decoration to the shoulder and base, and a stenciled "2" with flourishes at base. Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. Excellent condition with minor surface wear. H 11 3/4".
