Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1830, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and arched tab handles, brush-decorated completely around the body with an elaborate graduated leaf and floral motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 5" hairline from rim, a 3" hairline descending from rim through one handle, and a short, faint hairline from rim. A small rim chip. One handle with a 5/8" chip and two small chips. A shallow 1 1/4" chip to underside at edge. A few small base chips. Three short, minor lines on underside, one extending 1 1/8" up base of jar. H 15".
