Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "Hamilton & Jones. / Greensboro, / Pa," circa 1875, tapering jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling incorporating geometric flourishes and flowering vine motifs. Includes tin lid, inscribed "Pearl / 19." Provenance: From a fifty-year West Virginia collection. A few small chips to inner wax sealer rim. Minor nicks to shoulder molding. A small in-the-firing ping to left of decoration. A faint, approximately 2" line on underside forming faint, approximately 2" wide T-shaped line at base on front. Some light surface wear to sides and reverse. H 8 1/4".
